The DESY CMS group is participating in following areas of the CMS detector operation:

• data quality monitoring (DQM) both online at the detector site and remotely from the DESY CMS center
• alignment of the CMS tracking detector using Millepede, an algorithm which is developed at DESY
• operating of BCM1F which was built by DESY and is part of the BRIL project
• commissioning the hadron calorimeter after the successful upgrade of the outer hadron calorimeter (HO) with Silicon Photomultipliers
